Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Year 5! I am so excited to have the children back this year and to continue our learning journey together. Having taught them last year, I already know what a brilliant class they are, and I cannot wait to see all that they will achieve in Year 5.

We have made a great start in English, diving into Kensuke’s Kingdom. Our History and Geography learning will focus on Romsey Abbey and Southampton, and in RE we will be exploring how God is both loving and holy.

Please encourage your child to read daily as this is such an important skill to develop. Reading with an adult regularly (at least three to five times a week) and recording this in their Star Reading Journal is key. Discussing what the book is about and exploring the meaning of language will help them grow as thoughtful, independent readers.
