Year 6 - Willow Tree Class

Welcome to Willow Tree Class,

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Year 6 - your final year in primary school is going to be a memorable one!

Year 6 is a fun-packed and busy year, with lots to learn and enjoy. We will learn through three different themes: Friend or Foe?; How do we make the world a better place?; and Who’s got the power?

We have lots of educational experiences arranged this year to enrich our curriculum. Our trip to France allows us to explore the culture, language and geography of France; much of the teaching over the year also links to this visit. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Medina Mosque in Southampton where we can discover the importance of Umma to Muslims.

Every year, the children will participate in a theatre production during the summer term which will involve lots of singing, dancing and acting.

REMINDER: Please encourage your child to read daily. It is still extremely important, even in Year 6, to read to an adult. This will help your child develop their comprehension skills and broaden their vocabulary.

PE will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Always make sure the children have their full PE kit in school on these days.

l look forward to working with you throughout the year to help your child prepare for the various challenges and opportunities that Year 6 presents.

Mrs Hammond

We have a great year ahead of us!
