Year 4 - Mulberry Tree Class
Welcome to Mulberry Tree Class,
Mulberry Tree Class has just begun exploring the text Journey to Jo'burg by Beverley Naidoo set in South Africa. We will be building up to writing our own journey narratives and addressing the challenges that our characters might face along their journey.
As mathematicians, we have just started exploring number and place value; considering the place value of each digit in numbers up to 10,000, ordering, comparing and estimating them. We have also begun to recap our multiplication tables and to develop our understanding and fluency in these.
Our topic this term will turn us into archaeologists, questioning and investigating the Anglo Saxons. Were they the ruin of Britain?
As scientists, we are investigating living things and their habitats which we will explore further on our exciting trip to Hillier's Gardens. Following this we will be investigating different states of matter and the process which can change a material's state of matter.
Our overall question this term is Should you judge a book by its cover? which we will be considering alongside our habits of mind curiosity, empathy and reflection.
