Welcome back Holly Tree Class!

 

What an excellent start to Spring term, I cannot wait to see what we are going to achieve.

 

• We have made a start on our English learning journey with ‘Odd and the Frost Giants’ by Neil Gaiman, where we are working towards writing character descriptions of our own using powerful and challenging language. We will then move on to ‘Varjak Paw’ by SF Said, where we write newspaper reports and diary entries. In Spring 2 we look at some poetry with the text ‘Werewolf Club Rules’ and letters with the text ‘Cinnamon’. 

• In Maths we are developing our strategies for multiplication. We will move on to coordinates in Spring 2. 

• In our computing/DT lessons we are going to be making an imovie. This will include planning, designing and generating props and backdrops for a stop-motion picture based ‘The tin forest’. In Art Spring 2 we will be looking at working with Clay, making Viking Brooches. 

• Within our PE Session we will be covering Net and Wall games with myself before moving on to Strike and field games. With the sports coaches the children will be covering Gymnastics and Invasion games. 

• We have just started our history unit, starting to explore a key question ‘Are Vikings Raiders or Traders’.

• Within RE we are exploring the Hindu festival of Mahashivratri. 

 

Please continue reading with your children and supporting them with their home learning on Google Classroom, including their times tables.
